In alignment with World Autism Acceptance Month, the LEGO® Group, in collaboration with LEGO® House and the LEGO® Foundation, is launching a series of groundbreaking initiatives aimed at fostering neurodiverse inclusion on a long-term basis.
Colette Burke, Chief Commercial Officer at the LEGO Group, articulated the collective vision, stating, “All LEGO® entities are driven by our commitment to inspire and cultivate the builders of tomorrow, recognizing the fundamental importance of play for every child. This propels our exploration of strategies to make the LEGO experience more inclusive and welcoming for all… We acknowledge that the LEGO System in Play brings joy to neurodivergent enthusiasts of all ages, and we are dedicated to supporting, inspiring, and celebrating their creativity. Through adjustments to our stores, publications, and family attractions, we aim to positively impact and embrace the diverse needs and strengths of our fans worldwide.”
In a bid to ensure inclusivity, LEGO entities are collaborating with KultureCity®, certifying LEGO® House and LEGO® stores as sensory inclusive environments, offering sensory bags, and providing specialized staff training. Enhancements to LEGO® Life Magazine have been guided by inclusion experts from Special Networks, focusing on improving accessibility. Furthermore, the LEGO® Foundation is backing innovations through its Play for All Accelerator program, specifically designed to benefit neurodivergent children.
Through the implementation of these initiatives, the LEGO® Group reaffirms its commitment to making play experiences accessible to all, thereby fostering a more inclusive environment for neurodivergent individuals.
